1. You can call us or ask us to call you
If you’d like to apply for cover from Standard Bank’s direct life insurance services, you can call our contact centre directly on 0860 225 533, visit our website and get a quote online or request that one of our agents call you back.
2. There are certain requirements
In order to apply for cover from Standard Bank’s direct life insurance services, you must:
• Be between 18 and 65 years old
• Be a South African citizen with a barcoded ID
• Be taking out the cover for yourself
• Have your own bank account
• Have your height and weight details on hand
• Have your ID number on hand
3. You won’t have to fill out any forms
Our agent will take you through the telephonic application process, which takes about 30 minutes. You’ll be asked to provide your details and answer a number of questions about your health, family history, lifestyle and more. (It’s vital that you answer all of these questions honestly, as lying or withholding relevant information could affect a future claim.)
4. A full medical is generally not required
While you may not need to have a full medical, you will be required to have an HIV test within 90 days of your cover start date. Standard Bank’s direct life insurance services will cover the cost of the test and organise for a nurse to come to your home or office to conduct the test at a time convenient to you.
